UV filter is using polished and ground optical glass to ensure the sharp image, the transmission rate can be maximum combined with adding SMC coating to around 98.5%. UV filter has sharp UV cut optical glass to avoid the blur and blueness in colour shots.

Eespecially using film camera, UV can ruin the hue seriously by the reaction with the emulsifier.
